Andrew Lincoln has officially addressed his departure from The Walking Dead. Over eight seasons - the ninth season premieres in October - viewers have seen Lincoln's Rick Grimes lose countless friends and family members to the zombie apocalypse, including his wife (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son Carl (Chandler Riggs). It means everything to me. "The show is really going to a different place this year, so figuring out exactly how you communicate that to the audience that you're giving them this is the show that you love but we're doing something bigger and different with it this year". I love the people that make this show. "As you see in the trailer, we are deeply deeply proud of the work we've done this season ... my relationship with Rick Grimes is far from over".
They are attempting to integrate groups of people who were just recently at "all out war" with each other.
The Walking Dead, AMC Network's current pride and joy, continues to shamble forward like the rotting corpse of an undead walker.
It might look like a great pep talk, until you see he's chatting with the very risky murderer Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who is now locked in a jail cell and will most likely try to kill Rick as soon as he escapes.
There's no specific information yet on how Lincoln's character will be written off the series. The show also stars Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohan, Lennie James, and Melissa McBride.
