Prince Harry and Meghan, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are due to visit Australia this year for the Invictus games, one of the couple's first overseas trips as newlyweds.
He revealed that Harry may have been harboring much more positive views toward Trump than previously thought, claiming the prince once told him to lay off the criticism of the USA president.
The newlywed is showing off her blissed-out marital glow with her most bohemian look yet: a billowy, long sleeved cornflower blue toile printed gown with a wrap-cinched waist and asymmetrical hem from the Oscar de la Renta Resort 2019 collection.
He added that Meghan and Harry wanted him to walk her down the aisle "from the very start" and noted that Harry had given him advice on how to handle the encroaching press. Just days before the event, Markle had heart surgery - he had three stents implanted - and said he would not be able to make it to the wedding. "Meghan cried, I'm sure".
"They were very forgiving, both Harry and Meghan were very forgiving about it", he said.
But her sister-in-law Kate Middleton didn't attend the event until 2016 - a full five years after her wedding. Then he spoke emotionally about how sad he was that his health crisis forced him to not attend the wedding, where his daughter became the Duchess of Sussex and a member of the British royal family. "They called me together and Harry asked for her hand over the phone. I was telling him how unhappy I was with the president, with the idea of Trump", he said. I couldn't be more proud of those two and I think they'll do great.
He also described Prince Harry's view on Brexit as being "an experiment" that "we have to try".
Meghan, 37, looked stunning in the white ensemble and matching hat with Prince Harry by her side. Last year, the Prince interviewed Obama for a BBC radio programme he was guest editing.
"Harry asked for her hand on the phone", he explained. I realize it was a serious mistake, but it's hard to take it back.
"There was no real commitment to it".
The Duchess of Sussex has never attended and will probably not attend until Harry is named'.
