The newspaper reported that Lancaster learned about the shooting at Noblesville West Middle School when he got a phone call from his ex-wife. "We have not received any information that this has been anything other than a communicated threat".

Students were taken to Noblesville High for parents to pick up, state police said.
An adult and a teenager were injured in the Noblesville West Middle School shooting. But hospital officials said at least three people, including one adult, were being treated. "Their families have been notified".
The middle school was on lockdown, but the all clear was given and the lockdown was lifted. She told her to run.
At the time of publication, Lancaster had not yet heard from his sixth-grade son.
"This is surreal", Chad Lancaster told the IndyStar.
Authorities were working to secure the high school Friday. He said the suspect asked to be excused from class before returning with the guns, and investigators believe he acted alone.
A teen girl was taken to Riley Hospital for Children, and the teacher was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital. He says no other information is available about the victims. The suspect is in custody.

Aerial news video showed rows of students being evacuated and escorted to school buses. A police helicopter continues circling overhead.
Noblesville Schools Superintendent Beth Niedermeyer said she had just visited with the families of the victims and asked that while cards and kind wishes were welcome, people stay away from the hospital to allow the family to have some peace. She said the quick response from teachers was important in getting people out of danger. "We know there are also many other victims as well, students that observed this, teachers that observed this, law enforcement officers that observed this, and we're gonna try to get through it". He didn't confirm accounts that the teacher tackled the shooter after he fired four to six shots. The extent of injuries was not yet known.
An official says an adult and a child were injured in a shooting at an in middle school and were taken to hospitals in Indianapolis.
A roundabout south of the school, at Hague Road and E. 196th Street, has been shut down by police.
