Mayor Bill de Blasio did not directly address the matter but took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon and said that the city's diversity "is our strength", noting that the 8.6 million people who speak more than 200 languages are "all New Yorkers" and are "all welcome here".
A day after a video of him going on a xenophobic rant in a NY restaurant went viral, an attorney was hit with an avalanche of criticism on social media, kicked out of his office space and was the subject of a formal complaint by two politicians requesting he be disbarred. The lawyer may not like Spanish, but his web site claims he speaks it fluently.
"Your staff is speaking Spanish to customers when they should be speaking English", the man in a dress shirt can be heard telling a manager.
Schlossberg once clerked for a state Superior Court judge years ago, and had a West New York address, according to public records. He later updated the page with a receipt showing a roughly $224 payment to a mariachi band. He also states that the workers are probably on welfare that he says he pays for.
As news of his rant spread, Twitter users have been digging up dirt on Schlossberg.

The video shows Schlossberg arguing with a man appears to be an immigrant from the Netherlands, according to Vice News.
"But all of those pale in comparison to Schlossberg's rant earning him a rebuke from the Daily News, which put a still from the video on its cover today along with the words "¡Jódete, idiota!"
The New York Post reports, "Schlossberg had been using a business center in 275 Madison Ave.as an office address for his private law firm - but has been given the boot over the shocking video that went viral Wednesday".
The social media furor turned up more instances of a man who appeared to be Schlossberg getting irate with others.
Reporters from the New York Post and others have been trying to get more comments from Schlossberg, but he has thus far refused. He then darts away in desperation, trying to evade the press, which simply zooms in the lens rather than pursuing him.
