Titled Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, the latest entry to the franchise will feature the Castlevania gameplay and story you're used to, only shrunk down to the size of your iOS device rather than on your television or monitor.
Would you like a brand new Castlevania game?
In recent years, Konami has focused less on game development for consoles and PC, so it makes sense to see them turn to one of its biggest franchises to try and make a hit for the mobile space.
As traditional console and PC games continue to invade mobile app stores around the world, Konami announced this week that a new Castlevania game is now in development for iOS devices. If you don't feel like playing with Genya, you can take control of Alucard, Simon, Charlotte, Shanoa, or Maria, all characters from previous Castlevania games. The game will allow solo play but also allow cooperative play between up to four players.
First it was Metal Gear, and now Konami have set their sights on the Castlevania franchise. But Genya Arikado receives a letter that tells of an end to this new peace. It also seems to be a multiplayer/co-op version of Castlevania where players are encouraged to play with their friends in co-op or competitive sessions. But someone is intent on disturbing that peace, sending the main character, Genya Arikado, on a long and unsafe journey, fraught with enemies and mysteries.
But don't get too excited yet, because it's coming to devices in Japan only later this year, and is now in a closed iOS beta. Today only a few people know about it, and its ability to fight against Dracula.
Equally mysterious is the game's release date and available regions. Although she is young, her skill as a researcher of magic is considerable, and she supports Arika through her studies.
