When he finally got his chance on Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets, he didn't disappoint.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, his 19 points were the most by a Laker in his first career game since Nick Van Exel's 23 in 1993.
Ingram made his National Basketball Association debut for the Lakers after 384 games over a full decade in the developmental G League, including parts of the past six years with the Lakers' affiliate. It's hard to say the Los Angeles Lakers will be forgetting Andre Ingram anytime soon.
"I just felt some electricity out there", Ingram said, per Ty Nowell of Lakers.com. It was truly a once in a lifetime moment and one the salt and peppered Ingram earned, all the way down to the "MVP" chants from the Staples Center crowd.
Paul, like many others, was in awe of Ingram's inspirational story, which went viral Monday. Ingram has to somehow come up with an encore in the Lakers' season finale against the LA Clippers on Wednesday.
And that was just his first game.
And let it go Ingram did. The Lakers signed Wear to a 10-day contract, which he parlayed into a second 10-day deal and then a remainder of season contract. He didn't miss a single shot until the fourth quarter of the game.
Lakers: Ball missed his seventh straight game with a bruised left knee, while Ingram has played just two games since March 1 due to a groin strain and an apparent concussion.
Ingram, 32, demonstrated at Staples Center the quick release and dead-eye accuracy through which he became the G League's all-time leader in 3-point shots and 3-point shooting percentage.
And it wasn't only his teammates and family who were congratulating him.
Rockets: At the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
