Instead of waiting out the suspension, Ball and younger brother LaMelo signed professionally with Lithuanian team Vytautas Prienu, making themselves ineligible to play collegiately in the U.S.
LiAngelo Ball began his freshman season at UCLA but left the team after being caught shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton store in China last December.
The 6-foot-5 wing is averaging 15.7 points and 2.9 rebounds a game for Vytautas, while shooting 45 percent from the three-point line.
He now plays for Lithuanian first-division club BC Priena but he's expected to return stateside in May in order to work out for NBA teams and participate in the Pro Basketball Combine at IMG Academy.
LiAngelo Ball was embroiled in a shoplifting scandal in China past year while on a trip with the Bruins.
WSU junior forward Robert Franks announced Monday over Twitter that he would declare for the 2018 National Basketball Association draft.
"He's going to be taken care of either way", LaVar Ball said of LiAngelo Ball. "Because if you've got three, only one, maybe two make it to the NBA", Lavar had told the magazine. 247Sports ranked LiAngelo as a 3-star recruit coming out of Chino Hills high school, and he was ranked as the 226th overall player and 50th ranked shooting guard in the 2017 class.
The member of the Ball family with the best chance of making it to the National Basketball Association next is the youngest, LaMelo Ball.
