Crabtree was released by the Raiders after they signed Jordy Nelson, making for a quick turnaround on his part. The Ravens failed Grant's physical because of the "injury", but the widespread belief is they had buyer's remorse after giving Grant a whopping $14.5 million guaranteed.
Newsome and the Ravens front office responded quickly to the Grant fallout, signing Crabtree to a three-year deal Friday after the veteran receiver spent the day at the Under Armour Performance Center meeting with team officials. "To me, that's not a football decision, that's a medical decision that I have no control over".
Last season all Ravens wide receivers combined to catch just 146 passes for 1,734 yards and 11 touchdowns.
"All of you and our fans in Baltimore have been able to see what he's been able to do against us and against some pretty good corners that we have", General Manager Ozzie Newsome said Friday morning. "That would probably let you know why we have a certain level of interest".
Crabtree is coming off one of his worst seasons.
After being drafted in the first round by the San Francisco 49ers back in 2009, Crabtree has totaled 6,870 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns.
However, there's no doubt he has a lot more to offer.
Crabtree's best season came in 2012.
Brown, two years removed from a 1,000-yard season, expects to ring up big numbers with Baltimore.
Between 2015-2017, the former first-round pick logged 232 receptions for 2,543 yards and 25 touchdowns.
His ability to win in the red zone is badly needed in Baltimore.
The Ravens are looking to improve their receivers for quarterback Joe Flacco after ranking No. 29 in passing last season.
