What might John Elway have up his sleeve this year?
The Denver Broncos will reportedly sign Case Keenum once free agency begins on Wednesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
He has played in every game but two for the Broncos over the past three seasons and been a starter at inside linebacker in the past two seasons.
But by signing Keenum, they save money against the salary cap that will allow them to make fixes to some other areas of need. Siemian finished with 2,285 yards for 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 11 games (10 starts) on the season.
The Denver Broncos will be making several changes at the quarterback position.
All three quarterbacks were draft picks by Elway, the Hall of Fame quarterback who has only had success at quarterback in free agency.
Siemian has been Denver's primary starter since the retirement of Peyton Manning after the 2015 season.
The Denver Broncos are signing a new quarterback. The importance of ball security can not be overstated after the Broncos' quarterbacks fired 22 picks last season.
Osweiler is a free agent, so the battle for the Broncos' backup job behind Keenum was between Siemian and Lynch.
The biggest question now for the Broncos is how the team plans to use with the No. 5 pick in the draft now that Keenum is in the fold. However, Cousins is going to take his time and visit his suitors, a process Denver apparently didn't want to endure.
At this juncture, with the Broncos out of the wild west that is the quarterback hunt, NY is in a far better position to find their quarterback of the future than it was at the beginning of the legal tampering period on Monday.
"I still think that we're not too far away", Elway said at the recent National Football League scouting combine.
One player believed to be on the Texans' radar was Panthers' guard Andrew Norwell, but he will be headed to Jacksonville on a five year, $65.5 million deal. "But I feel like we can get right back in the thick of things pretty quickly".
