In addition to the staffers that have already been fired, ABC News' sources say that there is "a list of several other individuals with security clearance issues that are under consideration for possible termination or reassignment in the coming days".
On Monday, as the latest round of the negotiations over NAFTA were wrapping up, Trump repeated that the trade deal was bad for the USA and that Mexico was not doing enough to stop drugs flowing into the country.
The Mexican foreign ministry announced Kushner's trip in a statement late on Tuesday.
Trump repeatedly declared both on the campaign trail and from the White House that Mexico would pay for a wall on the U.S. border to stop illegal immigration.
Several top aides, including senior adviser Jared Kushner and former staff secretary Rob Porter, operated with interim top-secret clearance until recently, when Porter was forced to resign amid allegations of domestic abuse. It was the second time Pena Nieto had called off a Washington visit because of disagreements with Trump.
Some analysts in Mexico view the visit as a chance to fix a key relationship and for Kushner, 37, to prove his value to the White House. They will meet with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and will have a working meeting with Secretary of Foreign Relations Luis Videgaray.
Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law - whose security clearance was downgraded last week - will also talk about immigration, security, NAFTA and other trade issues, the administration said.
They'll also meet with Mexico's foreign minister.
Mexican officials declined to comment on whether Trump and Pena Nieto will hold court in the future.
"The officials from both countries agreed that realizing said (presidential) meeting will depend on the level of progress reached on".
