On The Late Late Show with James Corden, Charlize Theron and David Oyelowo shared a very amusing story about how the ice wasn't the only thing breaking when they met. Theron apparently doesn't have to worry about what her mom, Gerda Maritz, thinks about her marijuana use at all - because she's Charlize's personal weed shopper. "Ive definitely stubbed my toe and said s-t or something like that and my kids are like, Mom!" she said.
It was during the premiere of her film "Gringo" here that Theron learned where her mother really got the edibles from.
Charlize Theron's mom? All the way on the other end of the spectrum. "You can't have her, she's all mine", she told the audience.
While making a press run stop on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to promote her new marijuana-centric movie "Gringo", the Oscar-winning actress set Kimmel straight that she's no cannabis novice.
"I really thought I would be the responsible one to have to go and get that", she admitted.
"I'm always willing to try anything", Theron explained. "Today is not one of my favorite days.' And the little one goes, 'Mama, you no happy?'"
So had Charlize's mom gotten one of her young tennis friends to score for her (those tennis friends are bad influences!)?
Now that marijuana is now legal in California, Theron said her mother had no problem going to shop for the drug for the both of them. "Last week she showed up at my house - literally drove in her little tennis outfit and brought me a little container and just left it on my kitchen table", she said. The actress was pleasantly surprised when she learned that her mom went to the store and bought them herself. She says she has trouble sleeping, which I assume is due to flashbacks of the year-and-a-half of dating Sean Penn she was forced to endure.
