Images were aired of "popular forces" loyal to President Bashar Assad moving toward Afrin city in pick-up trucks equipped with anti-aircraft guns and armoured personals carriers (APCs), Efe reported.
Syrian people " s forces are now in the Afrin enclave, in the northern province of Aleppo, where they protect the population from attacks by remnants of the Islamic State terrorist group and the invading Turkish Army.
In a statement on Wednesday, President Tayyip Erdogan's spokesman warned that any pro-Syrian regime forces attempting to enter the Afrin region would face "serious consequences" after a Syrian military convoy was hit by Turkish artillery fire.
"A dozen or so pick-up trucks had come to advance toward Afrin".
On January 20, Turkish forces and Syrian opposition fighters allied with Ankara launched an offensive in Afrin, which has more than 350 towns controlled by the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), denounced by the Turks as terrorists.
At least 26 Turkish servicemen were killed and over 70 were injured during the Olive Branch operation.
"On February 21, during an operation in the Semdinli district of the Hakkari province and northern Iraq, two our military comrades died as a result of the explosion of a booby trap staged by members of the separatist terrorist organization (PKK)".
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday the Afrin crisis could be resolved through direct negotiations between Damascus and Ankara.
