TDP's meeting had come two days after the party, BJP's biggest ally in the South, expressed disappointment over finance minister Arun Jaitley's Budget, which it said, "did not address Andhra Pradesh's needs".
Though TDP and BJP contested the 2014 elections as an alliance the relations between the two started to sour after bifurcation of the state in 2014.
He denied that BJP president Amit Shah reached out to TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu. "The CM said he is committed to maintaining the coalition dharma, but now the protests for justice for Andhra Pradesh should be out in the open rather than just sending requests and appeals", said TDP central committee member Kambampati Rammohan Rao. The BJP and the TDP are part of the ruling alliances in Andhra Pradesh and also at the Centre.
Briefing on the decisions taken at the meeting to the media, Union Minister for State Sujana Chowdhury said that priority will be to acquire permissions for the projects which are in pipeline.
Before the meeting, several TDP leaders openly declared their dislike for BJP and wanted TDP to break the alliance.
At the TDP Parliamentary Board meeting in Amaravati, Naidu said that the party would begin its fight by raising the issue in the Parliament, sources revealed to IANS.
"It was all media speculation", Chowdary said when asked if the TDP was ready for a divorce with the NDA. It was also reported that the party and CM Naidu carried out an assessment of the pros and cons of a split with the BJP. We will tell them we are committed to the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP leaders told the Chief Minister that huge funds were allocated to Karnataka and Maharashtra for metro rail project while no mention of AP in this regard.
