"Dolores O'Riordan and The Cranberries had an huge influence on rock and pop music in Ireland and internationally".
Dolores O'Riordan performs at a benefit show in aid of the United Nations' UNHCR refugees fund, in 2004.
She was in the city recording new music.
In 2016 Riordan was ordered to pay nearly £5,000 to charity after kicking, hitting and spitting on police officers who responded to an air rage incident on a flight from NY to Ireland.
Sadly, no cause of death has been revealed at this time. On Boxing Day, she posted on social media that she was headed to Ontario to spend time with her family.
The Cranberries reunited and released an album past year, but a United States and European tour was cancelled in July due to an "ongoing back problem" suffered by O'Riordan. She claimed she remembered nothing about the incidents.
The Cranberries went on a hiatus in 2003, and Ms. O'Riordan released two solo albums. "You see a lot of artists who get caught up in the here and now, and they just burn themselves out, and I kind of did that myself with my third album".
She is survived by three children - her son Taylor, 20, and daughters Molly, 16 and Dakota, 12, according to People.
"She was an inspiration to many across the world and had a truly unique voice".
Dave Davies, a founding member of 60s rock group The Kinks, expressed his sadness and surprise at O'Riordan's death.
Last year, Dolores told a British newspaper that she wrote the band's smash-hit, "Linger", after being rejected by a boy at a local club in Limerick.
In 2013, the mother-of-four had disclosed that she had been raped as a child. Loved The Cranberries. R.I.P.
"We are crushed to hear the news about the passing of Dolores O'Riordan. Her family did so much for her and supported her all the way through".
