Aziz Ansari wore a Time's Up pin to the Golden Globes this year in solidarity with the women who were standing up against sexual harassment and inequality in the workplace, but now the actor is facing his own allegation of sexual assault. The photographer recounts meeting Ansari at a party and eventually going out on a date that didn't go as planner for her. His accuser is an anonymous, 23-year-old photographer and she says that he assaulted her after they went on a date. The woman, referred to under the alias "Grace" as a means to protect her identity, says that after getting dinner at an Oyster bar, Aziz and her went back to his TriBeCa apartment on Franklin St.
She endeavored to verbally convey her lack of engagement: "I said I would prefer not to feel constrained in light of the fact that then I'll detest you, and I'd rather not despise you", she said.
"She told baby Ansari "kept doing it after I moved it away".
She also saved the text message she sent him the day after, which was published on Babe.net's Instagram page. Later, as Grace says, the two flirted with each other and chose to go on a date, which is where things went wrong.
Aziz Ansari has become the latest Hollywood A-lister to have been accused of sexual misconduct.
The alleged victim says she used "verbal and non-verbal cues" to indicate her distress and lack of consent, and that she even turned stiff at one point to indicate her displeasure at his Ansari's alleged advances.
TMZ posted a screenshot of the text messages on its website and said the woman chose to speak up after she saw the comedian wearing a "Time's Up" pin on his tuxedo while attending last week's Golden Globes. She said he just seemed to get the message when she unequivocally said "no" after he'd twisted her over before a vast mirror.
"I think I just felt really pressured".
While she reportedly expressed her hesitation, she says Aziz continued with his attempts to have sex with her.
"I want to make sure you're aware so maybe the next girls doesn't have to cry on the ride home". "You ignored clear non-verbal cues; you kept going with advances".
"I'm so sad to hear this", Ansari allegedly responded. He responded with surprise, allegedly saying: "Clearly, I misread things in the moment and I'm truly sorry". She told babe: "I believe that I was taken advantage of by Aziz".
She says it was hard watching him at the Golden Globes, where he declared his support for the fight against sexual assault and harassment by wearing a Time's Up pin on the red carpet.
