It packs a 11.6-inch screen with 1366x768p resolution. As far as ports go, you get a USB-C port on the left side, as well as a USB 3.0 port, a micro SD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Acer Chromebook 11 is powered by an unknown Intel Celeron processor which is paired with 4 GB RAM. The Celeron processor is passively cooled, meaning there are no fans to bother you with noise.
Acer's new Chromebook 11 (CB311) is a pretty basic affair, targeted to the entry-level market. "Customers can play games, stay productive, enjoy content and do even more with the new Acer Chromebook 11 thanks to its support of Google Play".
Acer's hiding a quiet revolution in its mainstream Chromebook 11: two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5Gbps) Type-C ports, which work for connectivity and for charging. The 2GB RAM model will have a 16GB storage, while the 4GB variant bears a 32GB storage.
The new Acer Chromebook 11 (CB311-8HT / CB311-8H) offers an 11.6-inch display in a portable and fanless design, so it's great for consumers and families who will move the device around or use in shared spaces. This new Chromebook, which carries model number CB311-8HT/CB311-8H, is called the Acer Chromebook 11, and, going by its specifications, it falls right into the low to mid-range category. The other advantage of Chromebooks is that these can run Android apps.
The Chromebook 11 G6 Education Edition has exactly the same hardware, but is much smaller (11 inches) and has a more robust body, capable of withstanding falls of up to 0.7 meters in pure concrete without suffering damage. Actually, the OS is a full Linux distribution that is both extremely secure and easy to use.
It is expected to go on sale in March for $249. The Chromebooks will be available in black and dark grey color options.
The HP Chromebook 11 G6 EE will be available in February, but there is no word on the pricing at this point. For our first stop here at CES, we dropped by Acer to take a look at this laptop.
Availability wise, Acer has said that the Chromebook will appear in the European, Middle Eastern, and African markets in March where the base model will start at €249, before launching in the U.S. in April for US$249.
