The 6th seeded Atlanta Falcons, led by quarterback Matt Ryan and receiver Julio Jones, meet the 3rd seeded Los Angeles Rams, led by quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley, in an NFL NFC Wild Card playoff game on Saturday, January 6, 2018 (1/6/18) at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.
Second-year quarterback Jared Goff said the team has played in plenty of big games this season and this Saturday's National Football League playoff wild card round game against the Atlanta Falcons will be another big contest. Philadelphia is 13-3, but lost starting quarterback Carson Wentz with three games left.
The Rose Bowl, which opened in 1922, was the site of a historical win for Georgia on Monday night.
The Rams saw one of the NFL's most drastic transformations this season under 31-year-old rookie head coach Sean McVay, becoming the first-ever team go from last in scoring to first in just one season. The Falcons are a wild-card team. After last week's game, Rams coaches weren't sure he'd be able to play.
The Rams reached the postseason by winning the NFC West. Gurley II sat out the season finale against San Francisco, giving him an extra week to rest up before going up against a Falcons defense that finished ninth in the National Football League in both rushing defense and total defense.
Jones finished with nine receptions for 94 yards as Ryan went 21 of 30 for 218 yards.
"It was actually my first year [in Atlanta], so I remember him really well", Quinn said. Atlanta has held opponents to less than 100 yards rushing in five of the last six games, surrendering just 84 yards per game on the ground over that span. "So he had kind of the combination of the make you miss and the ability to kind of size you up and run you over". Jones caught 88 passes during the regular season, but only three resulted in touchdowns. Atlanta's offense answered when Matt Bryant hit Mohamed Sanu with an 8-yard touchdown pass.
