Reiterating his expectations that Apple will double AirPods shipments next year to more than 26 million units, the analyst believes Q1 AirPods could beat the usual sales fall compared to holiday seasonality.
Apple AirPods are sold off for entire holiday season so the earliest wireless earbuds will ship when ordered now is the 1st or 2nd week of January. The rumor blog Apple Insider spotted the memo and reports that Kuo expects the earbuds to have some smaller components and a higher selling price. The new AirPods will be assembled by Taiwanese manufacturer Inventec, just as with the original product.
Apple previewed AirPower and the new AirPods charging case at the September event, alongside iPhone X. It demoed the product - the first inductive charging to mat able to charge an iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods simultaneously - but did not talk availability or pricing. This means that if you are set on gifting someone the Bluetooth powered wireless ear buds for the holidays, you might have to make it a belated Christmas present.
Apple wireless AirPods headphones have become the latest casualty in the rush towards Christmas, with the online store out of stock until the New Year.
Apple also suffered supply issues past year after the AirPods sold out before Christmas.
The AirPods won't be stocked in New Zealand stores until January.
Despite launching one year ago, Apple AirPods remain in short supply.
