In November this year, Pakistan has offered to arrange a meeting of Jadhav with his family members in Pakistan on humanitarian grounds. "On this we asked Pakistan to give visa to the mother as well", Sushma Swaraj, India's Minister of External Affairs said. Islamabad will also allow an Indian diplomat to accompany the two, an official said. He said Pakistan had allowed Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav to meet his wife anyhow, India requested Pakistan that mother of Indian spy must be granted permission to see his son. Meanwhile, at the weekly news briefing in Islamabad, Pakistan foreign office spokesperson Dr Mohammed Faisal said a diplomat from Indian High Commission in Islamabad will be present in the meeting to be held on December 25. We are happy to note that Pakistan has also agreed to our request for mother to meet Mr. Jadhav that has been pending since April 2017.
"Hope Pakistan releases him early and he returns to India safely", said Pawar.
Pakistan today granted permission for Kulbhushan Jadhav's mother to accompany his wife for a meeting with the incarcerated Indian national on Dcember 25. Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism. We have been seeking access for both the mother and wife for a long time.
Jadhav is at the heart of a dispute between India and Pakistan, which is now being played out at the International Court of Justice. "We also raised concern about their safety and security in Pakistan. /3". It is not clear whether the Indian diplomat, accompanying the duo, will be given access to Jadhav. India subsequently filed a case against Pakistan in ICJ for violating the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations by not responding to 13 Indian requests for consular access to Jadhav. However, India maintains that Jadhav was kidnapped from Iran where he had business interests after retiring from the Navy.
