The event will be playable during four weeks for free for Rainbow Six Siege owners.
Year three of Rainbow Six: Siege will add more than just a temporary new mode.
KitGuru Says: Ubisoft's roadmap for Rainbow Six Siege's third year seems promising.
While news on year three is kind of sparse right now, Ubisoft announced it will fully reveal Outbreak and Operation Chimera at the Six Invitational 2018 - an esports event focusing on Siege. While zombies haven't explicitly been mentioned, the Operator's biohazard specialty and the use of "Outbreak" hints toward some sort of zombie encounter. Season Three will see two more operators, one from Scotland Yard and the other from Delta Force, and the "complete rework" of an existing map, while Season Four will give players two new operators from Morocco's GIGR [Groupe d'Intérvention de La Gendarmerie Royale] and a new map set in that country.
Season 2 will revert to type with a pair of Italian GIS operators and a new map set in Italy, before Season 3 diverges again with an operator from Scotland Yard in the United Kingdom and Delta Force in the USA alongside a complete overhaul of an existing map.
As for the rest of the content to expect throughout the game's third year, Season 2 will feature Italy, Season 3 will rework an existing map (please let it be Yacht) and have United States and United Kingdom operators, and Season 4 will be set in Morocco.
Earlier this year brand director Alexandre Remy said: "We're constantly looking and prototyping". From an extremely, erm, unpolished launch product to what it is now, the team at Ubisoft have worked tirelessly to get it to the levels it needs to be at to maintain a solid playerbase with constant updates and events.
The turnaround for Rainbow Six Siege has been nothing short of remarkable.
