Powered by a supercharged LT5 6.2-litre V8 that's also good for 715 lb-ft of torque, the ZR1 is capable of a claimed top speed of 338 km/h (210 mph)-the only performance metric Chevrolet has revealed about the vehicle.
This is what you want to know: 755 horsepower, 715 lb. -ft. of torque, top speed of over 210 miles per hour, according to General Motors. However, those who prefer paddle-shifting can now spec an eight-speed automatic transmission instead.
With great power comes great speed.
Chevrolet claims a top speed of more than 210mph, although no other performance figures have been provided.
The 2019 Corvette ZR1 goes on sale next spring, poised to take on the world's best.
Straight line speed isn't the new ZR1's only forte.
If you're after blazing quick laps on the track, go for the High Wing setup that boasts 60 percent more downforce (at an estimated 430kg) than the Z06 fitted with the Z07 Performance Package.
Chevrolet returned the Corvette ZR1 to the lineup for 2009.
"I've never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has either, because there's never been one like this before", said Mark Reuss, General Motors' executive vice-president of Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. One thing to note about the rear wing is that, while it offers a pretty sleek touch, and added performance benefits, it prevents drivers from being able to easily access the trunk.
Hidden underneath the chiseled front end is a new underwing that creates downforce to keep the ZR1 stuck to the road. The package also gets a unique front splitter, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 high-performance summer tires, and specific chassis and suspension tuning.
Chevrolet will be offering the new model in a special Sebring Orange Design Package, which includes the vibrant Sebring Orange Tintcoat exterior, orange brakes, orange seat belts and stitching, and other orange and bronze highlights. The price of the auto was not yet announced, but it will likely be a six-figure price, even before dealers add markup. There's also a Bose premium sound system available, along with a carbon fibre-rimmed steering wheel, competition sport seats and a Performance Data Recorder for more sportive types. Both of the wing options are tied into the chassis, which is how it is in the Corvette Racing C7.R version, ass well.
