The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a list of 68 candidates for the Himachal elections, while Congress released a list of 40-star campaigners.
Congress is also planning an agitation on the first anniversary of demonetisation on November 8 aimed at highlighting the plight of small businesses, youth, women and farmers, who had suffered the most, said Gandhi. "Burning my effigies will not deter me from carrying out a fight against corruption and black money".
Taking potshots at former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's statement that Re 1 ends up as 15 paise when it reaches villages, Modi said: "Rajiv was such a doctor who diagnosed the problem of corruption but did not do anything about it".
Reflecting on the claims of BJP leaders that the indirect tax structure was passed with Congress support, Gandhi said the present structure of GST was not what was proposed by his party.
Singh also enumerated the works of the Narendra Modi-led Government including the Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana, LPG gas cylinder subsidy, and the Mudra Yojana among others. But, Modi said, he would miss the fun of fighting an election as Congress has already left the battlefield.
While addressing a huge gathering in the district of Una, PM Modi said, "I have never seen such enthusiasm for the BJP that I am witnessing this time in Himachal Pradesh".
"There was maximum development in Himachal when Atal ji was in Delhi and Dhumalji was here in Himachal. You said you (Modi) are a "chowkidaar" but you are a "bhaagidaar" (accomplice)", Gandhi quipped. He added that in those years (the UPA government rule from 2004-2014) one discussed how much money was lost, while now one discussed how much money had come in the government coffers.
The polling for the 68-seat Himachal Pradesh Assembly will take place on November 9. On seeing its vote bank eroding, the party announced the chief ministerial face in Himachal and same was happening in Gujarat, alleged Sharma. He said that it is not the Congress that is claiming the data, but according to the reports released by the Central government, in past five years, more than 60,000 people were employed in Himachal, whereas even though the state is bigger in strength, less than 10,000 were employed in Gujarat.
