Vincent D'Onofrio will return as Wilson Fisk in Daredevil season 3. Charlie Cox previous told us how much he wanted Kingpin to return (and Bullseye to debut), and we now have confirmation that the villain will, in fact, be returning for the show's third outing.
He made a brief encore in three episodes of Season 2, and even with the introduction of characters like the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Electra (Elodie Yung), his presence was sorely missed for the rest of that season's episodes. We can probably expect Matt Murdock's return sometime around Spring or Summer. When asked about the hiring, Loeb stated, "We're very excited how Marvel's Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner". Marvel TV chief and executive producer Jeph Loeb casually mentions in a statement that Erik Oleson, an executive producer and writer on Amazon's The Man in the High Castle, will lead the writers' room.
Marvel's Daredevil will see a familiar face return and a new boss take over behind the camera for Season 3. Daredevil was overseen by Steven S. DeKnight in season 1, before Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez took over in season 2. Both Petrie and Ramirez left to work on The Defenders. It's said that this third season will be based on the Born Again storyline for Daredevil where Matt's life falls apart thanks to the Kingpin learning about Matt's secret identity. We're glad he'll get some more shine in season 3, though. Also, Karen Page turns into a porn star heroin addict in the story.
The news of D'Onofrio coming back is an exciting prospect.
Daredevil's third season is starting to ramp up production in NY, although a premiere date has yet to be confirmed. Fisk sat the big team-up out, with Sigourney Weaver stepping in as the big bad doing battle against Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
