First, Airtel partnered with the domestic manufacturer Karbonn to launch a dirt-cheap 4G VoLTE smartphone. The remaining Rs 1000 will be paid out once the next 18 months are done. Just last week, the company has announced a 4G VoLTE feature phone in partnership with BSNL, and today, the company has announced Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra smartphone in partnership with Vodafone.
At the end of 18 months, the buyer will receive cash back of Rs 900 in their M-Pesa wallet as 1st installment.
Let us take a closer look at the specifications of Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra and see what we will be getting at an effective price of Rs. 999/-.
With Bharat2 Ultra, Micromax and Vodafone are said to apply nearly the same strategy as Airtel and Karbonn did with the newly launch Karbonn A40 Indian 4G phone. The new smartphone comes at a price of Rs 999, which the company claims it to be the cheapest smartphone in India. For this, the smartphone maker has joined hands with Vodafone. Earlier, there were speculations that Micromax will price Bharat 2 at Rs. 2,999 but, now it has been spotted again at a price tag of Rs. 3,499. It will come with data and calling plans from Vodafone.
The handset is powered by Spreadtrum SC9832 quad-core chipset, 512MB RAM, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 1,300mAh battery. On the camera front, the handset sports a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera. The gadget accompanies camera modes like scene location, outline mode, and burst shots.
Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax, said that the Bharat series is perfectly poised for the acquisition of first-time smartphone users. This will help fulfill the aspirations of several million phone users across the country that desire a smartphone but couldn't afford one. We believe that greater device affordability and low cost data packs will drive increased smartphone adoption, as there is still a huge gap. "It will also encourage current non users of 4G to upgrade and enjoy a richer user experience with Vodafone SuperNet 4G", said Avneesh Khosla, Vodafone India Associate Director of Consumer Business. Recently, we saw Bharti Airtel team up with Karbonn to launch a phone with effective price of Rs 1399, with a minimum recharge of of Rs 169 per month for a period of three years.
