Rachael Parker was an officer with the Manhattan Beach Police Department, who was shot down and killed during Sunday night's shooting rampage.
Parker should have returned from a trip with colleagues over the weekend to the three-day Route 91 Harvest country music festival in Las Vegas.
At least one Long Beach resident has been reported dead as a result of the shooting at a Las Vegas music festival, where a gunman opened fire on fans from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
According to a GoFundMe page established for the family, Parks "was a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, teacher and so much more".
Manhattan Beach Unified authorities shared the news of Casey's passing in message to guardians Monday morning.
Manhattan Beach Middle School also was grieving Tuesday.
"Sandy was a vibrant, vibrant person", one mourner said. "This is inconceivably dismal and shocking", Superintendent Mike Matthews composed. "You were a true girl boss and will be truly missed". Travis Phippen, a medic, was shot in an arm but survived and helped treat more than a dozen wounded people in the crowd.
Louise Leslie's 14-year-old great-granddaughter went to the school where Romero worked.
In addition to the off-duty Manhattan Beach officers, there were six off-duty officers with the Redondo Beach Police Department and one department employee at the concert that evening also.
Parker started as a meter maid and worked her way up through the department.
Sandy Casey and her fiancé, Christopher Willemse, are shown in this undated photo.
On Facebook early Monday morning, Willemse wrote: "As I sit and mourn such a handsome life gone too fast, all i can say is look up and watch the birds fly high and free today as that's where I feel you smiling down upon all of us". "One of the ladies I helped was shot in the leg". "Love you to pieces!"
Her mother called Parker "brilliant", with "a heart of gold".
"She lived life to the fullest and made me the happiest man in the world".
"I said 'Babe, this can't be how we die, this can't be how we go.' So we just got up and ran behind the stage and got out", eventually hiding with about 200 other people in a helicopter rental company. "It sounded like it was coming from the sky, up above", she said of the gunfire.
"Our understudies, workers, and guardians are crushed by Sandy Casey's passing. She was a strong kid", he said.
Derek Michael Billings, who sends his children to another nearby elementary school, said: "I can't even begin to comprehend this as it hits home".
We may not have the answers, but we have each other. "We've had counselors available all day and they're being utilized not just today, but for some time in the foreseeable future", Matthews said.
"This is a tremendous loss for the Riverside Unified family, and we are shaken and saddened by this news", according to the Riverside Unified School District. "She's like, 'Yeah, I'm one of the first faces they see when they walk in to complain about something.' They're very devastated over there, I've talked to some of her coworkers already so I know they'll be doing something for her".
