If you miss out Saturday, some fans on Reddit have attempted to recreate the sauce: To make it, take garlic, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, plum sake, Sriracha, ginger and brown sugar and simmer them for five minutes, stirring constantly, according to Time. After returning with the Szechuan Sauce from the always-1998 dimension, C-1998M, we did some science and now we have a bit more sauce!
So why all the rage?
Thanks in part to the Adult Swim show's popularity and its lead character's never-ending quest for that elusive Szechaun Sauce - he calls it his "one-armed man" and his "series arc even if it takes 9 seasons" - the fast food chain is bringing it back for one day only. It was originally released as part of a promotion connected to the Disney movie "Mulan".
And for those who aren't lucky enough to land the sauce, McDonald's is also giving away limited edition posters celebrating all 10 sauces for the tenders, including Szechuan, at the locations on Tates Creek and Harrodsburg roads, and in Berea, Morehead, Richmond and Georgetown.
Szechuan Sauce is a former Chicken McNuggets condiment. Same. But here's the catch: you have to purchase an order of the buttermilk crispy tenders, and you'll only be able to get a single packet of Szechuan sauce, because McDonald's is notorious for being stingy with sauce.
As it turns out, McDonald's listens to its customers. Limited edition stickers of the poster will also be available once posters run out.
In its announcement, McDonald's doesn't quite cop to responding to "Rick and Morty" fan pressure by re-releasing the sauce. On April 1st, 2017, the first episode of the third season had a surprise airing with no announcement prior to the premiere.
So, if you're on a quest to get the sauce, good luck!
