South African fans took to Twitter as well because the movie will air in America before they get to see it. Others took issue with the fact that it says it is "based on the true story".
Reeva Steenkamp's parents, Barry and June Steenkamp, say they're "horrified" by the film. A South African release date has not yet been confirmed.
The Paralympian is played by Andreas Damm, while Toni Garrn plays Reeva Steenkamp.
Convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius' family has distanced itself from the film Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer, saying it plans to take legal action against the producer of the film.
The sentence was much lower than many had expected and was widely criticised as too lenient.
